Want to help with the party? Anything to assist Jill and Dirk in putting together this amazing effort would be so appreciated! If you have time to help set up, or connections in any of the following areas, please contact Jill directly.
- Entertainment, music
- Wine, alcohol (bottled water for me!)
- Food, catering - SPECIAL THANKS TO Isla Vista Co-Op for donating all the food for the party!
- Fine Art for the Silent Auction - view the current gallery here.
- Someone to capture candid photos
We don't have a monetary goal in mind, for several reasons:
We have plenty of ideas for ways people can help us if they simply have time or used items to donate. We also want some amount of what people would like to contribute be in the form of credit at groceries, markets, and complementary health care centers that we frequent to assist me in complementing the Tuber Removal Program.
The Wish List:
Gift cards, credit to markets, groceries, and natural/complementary health care vendors we frequent: Here are several of our favorite places to shop if you would like to get a gift card OR march right up to the manager and ask for a donation! Please mention to store managers and vendors that any donations will receive publicity and much gratitude on my blog, so please refer them to this site for details and insight.
- CostCo: Lisa and Eric shop CostCo for household supplies, car maintenance, eyeglasses, and contacts.
- Trader Joe's
In Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez area:
- Isla Vista Co-op
- Alice's Natural Health Care
- Points of Health Acupuncture - DONATED by Points of Health Acupuncture - THANK YOU!
- New Frontiers Market (Solvang)
Any connections with store owners, etc could be useful. We'll only need 3+ months worth of credit here in the Santa Barbara area because of our move in January. Max credit needed would be:
- Groceries/markets: $150/wk for 12 weeks (supplements and groceries)
- Alice's Natural Health Care: $75/month for 3 months
Non-monetary donations: there are some items that we would love to have, and may be things that go unused in your own home!
- Good, glass-bowled food processor (we broke our plastic one, oops!)
- Firewood (it's the only way we heat our house, and we'll now be here through January!)
- A place to stay for a short time while we move or look for a place to live in Marin County, in about January 2010.
- A used women's cruiser bicycle, because to be autonomous, I'll be on bike or foot once we move to Fairfax in Marin County.
- Salad spinner
- Food dehydrator
- Baby monitor (so Boyfriend can monitor any seizure activity)
- A good blender to make our favorite nutmilks (Yummy!)
(This list will evolve, as items get donated, so keep checking back.)
Horse Help: My 26 year-old, retired lesson horse, Stevie, has health problems, too. The farm where he lives, Arroyo Arabians, in Santa Ynez, has generously offered to comp his care on some trade because of my situation, but farrier and veterinary bills accumulate as his health wanes. Credit with Alamo Pintado Veterinary Clinic in Santa Ynez may be needed at some point, particularly if euthanasia becomes an only option, but I'm pulling for Stevie. I will keep you updated as his needs evolve. If Stevie recovers from his current health issues, we would like to move him to Marin County, and horse hauling and board credit at Stevie's new home will be needed, and much appreciated.
Packing and moving help: We are moving to Marin County in about January, following my treatment and health approval from all of my doctors. We all know what a job it is when you have to move! Anyone have a moving van/truck connection? Packing supplies and boxes? When the time comes we may also set up a "moving party" to help us pack up up, clean, and get it all done at once! Because of the timing with my treatment and unknown energy levels, setting a moving party date isn't realistic right at the moment, but keep the time frame in mind, and if you're available and willing, let me know and you could be of tremendous help!
Once we move to Marin County about January, credit at the following vendors would help us tremendously:
Good Earth Natural Foods Co-Op (Fairfax, CA)
Cafe Gratitude (Fairfax, CA)
Zhu's Neuro-Acupuncture (San Jose, CA)
