As in "Yours Truly".

As in "Truly, Madly, Deeply".

As in "It's truly no accident that this cat showed up when she did".

As in "Truly-The-World's-Sweetest-Smartest-Most-Beautiful-Cat-Ever".

But they all seemed a bit long, so Truly seems just right.

The prize for the most thoughtful suggestion, however, goes to my dad, who suggested "Eartha Kitty", because then we "wouldn't have to change her last name".  I'd known Eartha Kitt was this beautifully exotic-looking songstress from the 50's and 60's, but did you know that she also played Catwoman during the final season of the the television series "Batman"?

Good one, Dad.

Unfortunately, that suggestion came after we'd determined Truly was truly the best name for her.  She seems to like it and it resonates with us, so we're sticking with it.  Naming the next girl-cat may have become much easier, however!

Came here from the dooce page on Facebook (ok, that's not exactly right, but close enough).  I gotta say - I love the cat names!  I may try to remember Eartha in case we ever get another female cat.  Not likely, as we've had bad luck with them, but you never know!

Boyfriend calls her Truly-Tabouli, so I guess it's a free-for-all.  She will be the cat with MANY names.

she IS so beautiful.  i guess you meant she is the smartest, most beautiful FEMALE cat, since my dorian is the most beautiful of the males...lol

the "kitty" name is funny.  my boyfriend successfully made dori think that his name is "kitty," as that is what the boyfriend always calls him.  now dorian answers much more readily to "kitty" than anything else.  boyfriend thought simply that "dorian" was too non-cat-like and serious of a name and refused to use it.  perhaps this explains some of our issues.
